"How Clean is Clean Enough?"

Spring is here and thoughts turn to cleaning.  Before you sell your home, here are some areas that you will want to be sure are looking their best:

Front door

You want to make an impression right from the first moment a potential buyer arrives at your home.  Wash the windows, power wash the concrete, tidy up the flower beds.  A pretty wreath on the door or pot of flowers says “Welcome”.

Kitchen

Countertops - Remove all excess items from countertops, walls, and tables.  Less is definitely more, when it comes to showing your home.

Pantries - Sort out those pantries and broom closets, because potential buyers will be checking out those areas.  They will look so much bigger, if they are not full of stuff.

Stoves – Make them shine.  Purchase new drip pans.

Refrigerators – Take down the pictures and magnets.  A good cleaning inside out and under is suggested.

Sinks – Scour stainless steel and polish fiberglass, marble or acrylic.  I highly recommend a product called Gel-Gloss for a wonderful, stain free shine.

Floors – Fresh wax or polish will liven the floors up.

Bathrooms

Hang a fresh shower curtain in a neutral color.  Add some new towels and a bath rug.  Any personal items should be tucked away.

Garage

This is an area that most people would like to forget about. But de-cluttering this area will have an impact on your buyers.  Watch for June’s tips on how to dispose of the unwanted items.

Lights

Finally, check that all light bulbs are working, throughout your home.  Your realtor will be turning them on, when the home is being shown.  A burnt out bulb will be noticed by buyers.
