Moving Tip of the Month

-March-

Bathrooms

How long has it been since you have looked under the sink?  The old adage is true…out of sight, out of mind.  This results in products that are no longer effective or even dangerous!  In addition, money can be wasted on multiples of the same item.  Here are some ways that you can take back control of your bathroom.

Medicines - It is important to check those expiration dates.  Old medicines do not work affectively and can even be harmful.  The bathroom is a damp space which shortens the effectiveness of your medicines.  Move them to a closet or even the kitchen.

How to get rid of the old medicine?

Should You…..

Flush Them Down The Toilet?

Pour Them Down The Sink?

Throw Them Into The Trash?

Return Them To Your Pharmacy?

Return Them To Your Doctor?

The best advice at this time is to throw them in the trash.  To avoid the possibility of someone getting a hold of them from the trash, you may want to add a little water into the solid medications or solidify liquid medicines with kitty litter, sawdust or flour.

Towels – When you purchase new towels, be ready to send old towels into service as rags or donate them.  Most homes can do fine with four or five sets of towels, total.

Cosmetics – If you purchase a product that you find you don’t care for, the best place for it is the trash.

Medical Supplies – Get a container, to keep them all in one place.  When they are needed, you will know right where to find them.  You don’t want to be searching high and low, for a band aid, when it is needed.

It is confusing to find the item you are looking, buried among the old and unneeded products.  By sorting out the excess, you will save time, space, and money.  You will also be on your way to “A Smooth Move”.  If you have any questions on how to make better use of your space, a Senior Move Specialist would be happy to assist you.
